HOW TO PREP Interactive Notebooks For SUCCESS!

There are SO many resources out there for Interactive Notebooks.
Where do you Start?
Well, I went SURFING, web surfing~ DUH!!
I found a plethora of information out there.

There REALLY are great teachers doing REALLY amazing things with Interactive Notebooks.

So, I took a little of this, a whole lotta of that
added my own FLAIR...
and BANG~ POW~ (a bit of sparkles of course
and I have my own Interactive Notebooks.

This post is dedicated to the teachers that inspired me to accomplish SUCCESSFUL interactive notebooks in KINDERGARTEN!
Please click on the links to find other posts that talk about interactive notebook success and implementations.

I don't know about you, but I am a VISUAL learner.
I learn by seeing, looking, and watching.
I wanted this post to be a PEEK or a LOOK at

MY PREP IN PICTURES!

So, here goes.  My Prep!

1st~ You will need Wide Ruler Spiral Notebooks.
I like to find ALL black notebooks because it makes the cover STAND OUT!
2nd~  You will need to make a cover for your notebook.
I am using my Mathematician Superhero Notebook.  Print it out and be conscious of the exact size.  I always want it to cover all of the WORDS on the front of the notebooks.
Use Rubber Cement to secure.
 Notebook Covers Secure.

3rd~ Find your DUCK TAPE style!
I HEART LOVED pin that I saw I while back from Kristen's Kindergarten.
The pin said to use DUCK tape to cover the spirals.
Light BULB idea...
This will help me store the notebooks and prevent spiral snarl. (hee hee)

  This was a GOD SEND!
So, #3 is find your STYLE!
4th~ This is where my own FLAIR comes in.
I found that one piece of duck tape does NOT work. I add the first piece to the front first. You will need to really watch where you space it on the notebook.  I bought a couple of notebooks for trial and error purposes to avoid any problems.  This really saved me.

I still have nightmares that I never checked that out ahead of time.

I place my duck tape about 1/2 inch after the spirals, on top of the 3 holes to avoid problems while opening.
4th Continued...
I add another piece on the back for durability.
Spiral PREP done.
Your spirals should allow students to open the notebook easily and keep the spirals safe for easy storage.
You will LOVE your SEA of Interactive Notebooks.
5th~ Another REALLY great idea came from Valerie Young when she was blogging on Corkboard Connections. I loved this idea too!

Add an ENVELOPE in your notebook.
Do you know why?  We ALL know why!

You always have that sweet little doll of a child that NEVER, EVER, finishes, ANYTHING!

This will save your life when he/she can't find their pieces that they couldn't finish last time!
NOW, our/YOUR Interactive Notebooks are BEAUTIFULLY and Completely Prepped!
Now, if they would only stay this pretty! :)

Five for FRIDAY~ 9/26 + Personal Reflections

Hey EVERYBODY!
Don't ya just LOVE the fall?  I mean I really LOVE the fall!  I love everything about it.  The changing leaves, the cool breezes, the NOT wearing swimsuits anymore (hee hee), COLLEGE football ~ GO ND~, and of course... the PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE at Starbucks!
That's why this POST is SO important...

Cheers to my Five for Friday Ya'll!
Thanks DOODLE Bugs for hosting.

Ok...  This was my Thursday morning...  Stay with me...

I woke up 20 minutes late - ZERO coffee creamer, a 14 year old boy who would rather sleep than shower, an 8 year old girl who   wants to take a shower when we have to leave in 5 minutes, and finally a hubby, who bless his little heart, tries to help but ends up walking around endlessly searching for a reason to leave this morning NUTHOUSE!

WITH ALL OF THIS, I decide that on my way to school I am going to treat myself to a PUMPKIN SPICE latte from my SUGAR PRISON~ Starbucks.

After 10 minutes in the drive thru there was
a sign, A SIGN, A SIGN!!!
SOLD OUT OF PUMPKIN SPICE
Sorry for the inconvenience.

REALLY?  WHAT? SHOT STRAIGHT THROUGH THE HEART!

YOU. CANNOT. SELL OUT. OF. PUMPKIN. SPICE in the fall!  DUH!!!
Ok, to make up for my Starbucks mishap, Let's Spoon had MY NAME AND MY HUBBY'S name as the names of the day!
That entitles ME to TWO FREE ice creams! YAY!
~ No gym in sight, right?

This week I've been TRYING to wake up early to finish my Halloween Unit.  It's almost done.  Here are a couple of pages.

School stuff....
My classroom has the worst glue sticks EVER!
My school supplies the glue sticks and they STINK!  My interactive notebooks are suffering!  Today I went out and bought my own GLUE sticks.  The BEST $6.00 I've spent this week.  ~Especially since I didn't get that Starbucks coffee!

I didn't get to share this last week!  This past Saturday my husband and I were able to attend the BLACKHAWK'S Training camp at The University of Notre Dame.
We sat right on the ICE. It was AWESOME!

Thanks for listening to my rants, raves, and reflections on this past week. I promise to post some more useable and meaningful posts
(hee hee) this weekend.
Up coming~

Five for Friday~ Sept 5

Hi Everyone!
I'm linking up with Doodlebugs Teaching for Five for Friday.

I just HAD to share this.  Are you laughing?
 I can't stop. A BUTT! hee hee!
Ok, let's get serious.... (a butt, heehee)
Ok for real, I bought this from the AMAZING Barefoot Teacher and I LOVE it.  She (Becky) is awesome. Hi Becky!
Just a little shout out go and check her out!
A few of my old and NEW favorite things.  If I was Oprah, they'd be under your seat!  That ICED coffee from Starbucks with milk and a shot of my creamer is like HEAVEN on earth! ahhhhhhhh!
Do you see the slow cooker in the background?
Yep, that's what teacher parents do!
I. NEED.TO.DO.THIS.
This is my mental note!
First, lemme give you some background info.
Oh, and no judging... LOL
I am a DIE hard Garth Fan.  I have ALL of his CD's minus the No Fences CD ONLY because I broke it. Probably from playing it so much! His songs are the ONLY ones I sing and when I sing them I SING'EM!
When I heard about this tour I set an alarm on my phone to buy tickets.  When Chicago went on sale I LITERALLY had two laptops, one PC, and my cell phone CHECKING for tickets.  ALL the while, I was on hold with ticket master.  The show sold out, in like a minute, probably longer but to me it was like a minute.
In the final seconds, it seemed like it happened in slow motion, my computer pulled up 2 tickets to the 10:30PM show 17th Row Center! You've got to be kidding me?
It was like I WON THE FLIPPING LOTTERY YA'LL!

So... I'm going on Saturday!  The show is at 11:30PM my time, WHOA!  Plus, it is after the Notre Dame v Michigan game.  (GO IRISH)
It's gonna be a long weekend! Cheers!

Until Next Time...

...I got friends in low places....
